Darlington House has a story that goes way back. Mrs. Sybil Darlington had a dream for this location back in the 1920s. The architects Herbert C. Palmer and Richard Requa gave it that special Mediterranean flair that still turns heads today. Later in 1940, famous local architect Thomas Shepherd further modified the front and expanded the house, turning it into a grand mansion while maintaining its architectural finesse.

After Sybil Darlington died in 1968, the estate and grounds were taken up by the La Jolla Social Service League. Initially, they planned to acquire the vacant 25 feet of property to add more units to League House. However, the League members had a brilliant idea—turning Darlington Mansion into a revenue source to support their mission.

When the '80s rolled in, Darlington House transformed. It went from being just a house to a hub for culture and gatherings. That's when it spread its doors to weddings and events, but it didn't lose its old-world charm, it embraced it.
